The family of Jennifer Susan Ida Allen is devastated and heartbroken to announce the death of this beautiful woman. Jennifer was tragically taken from us along with her loving husband, George Mummery, in their beloved home in St.Catharines while in her 59th year of life.

Born and raised in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Jennifer attended Niagara District Secondary School where both her parents were teachers. She completed an undergraduate and teaching degree at Queen's University in Kingston, and spent her first year of teaching in El Salvador where she cultivated a love for both the Spanish language and the culture of Central America. She taught English and Drama for the Lincoln County Board of Education (DSBN) before retiring two years ago from her work in ESL at St. Catharines Collegiate. Her gorgeous smile lit up any room she graced, and staff and students adored her.

A true friend and confidante to many, Jennifer surrounded herself with her favourite pastimes of dog walks, tennis, yoga, dinner parties and trips to Mexico and surrounding countries. She touched the hearts and minds of many people through her teaching, leadership, conversation and spirited parties. She had a flair for the dramatic; she loved to tell a story, and she always had one! Jen and George’s home was the site of many memorable gatherings, whether it be year-end parties for the staff and friends of St. Catharines Collegiate, or backyard bbq’s gathered around a burning fire. She and George were the life of the party whether they were the hosts or the guests! Their home brought them much joy and was a labour of love being constantly improved and upgraded largely by their own hands. Jennifer was enjoying her early retirement years and had a full schedule on her plate. She played tennis regularly at White Oaks and was on the board of the St. Catharines Tennis Alliance as one of the founding members, where she played an instrumental role in bringing the club from Niagara back to St. Catharines.

Jennifer is survived by her beloved mother, Susan Allen, sister Roberta Harper (Bruce),  half-sister Lisz Keallen (Brock May), her step sons and her beautiful dog, Jackson. Predeceased by her darling father William Allen. Loving aunt to nephews Jacob, Calvin, Levi and Malcolm Harper and so fondly remembered and loved by many cousins. A private interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Thorold where she will be put to rest alongside her father. Her friends and family are invited to gather at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Sailing Club on Friday June 21, 2024 from 3:00-6:00 for a Celebration of Life.
