Thorold woman arrested in connection to Meals on Wheels fraud

Suspect stole more than $118,000 from Port Colborne organization, police say

In October of 2023, the Niagara Regional Police Service received a report of a fraud involving the Meals on Wheels community organization located at 953 Elm Street in the City of Port Colborne.

Detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Fraud Unit commenced an investigation and determined that an employee of Meals on Wheels had allegedly stolen from the organization without authorization, an amount in excess of $118,000.  

On Feb. 22, Anita (Katrina) Postma, 55, of Thorold was arrested and charged with the following offence of:

  • Fraud Over $5,000

Postma was released on an officer-In-charge undertaking. Her initial court appearance will take place on April 8 at 9 a.m. at the Robert. S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines.
