Police search for suspects in theft at Walmart last month

Police allege two women took a bag belonging to another shopper that had $5,000 in it

On November 23, 2023, at 7:15pm 3 District (Welland/Pelham) officers were called to the Welland Walmart regarding a theft.

The initial investigation determined that a member of the public had entered the store to purchase some items. When in the store he set down a bag he had been carrying that contained $5000 plus cash. The complainant mistakenly walked away from the bag. When they realized what had happened the complainant returned minutes later to find the bag was gone.

Video surveillance determined two female suspects (see  photos) found the bag, looked at its contents, and took it. They purchased several items with the cash and left the store. They were last seen leaving the area in white Toyota Camry (plate unknown).

The first female is described as:

  • Tanned skin
  • 5'3" feet tall
  • Approximately 50 years old
  • Wearing a maroon winter jacket, blue jeans, black and white shoes, yellow toque and yellow scarf.

The second female is described as:

  • Tanned skin
  • 5'3" feet tall
  • Brown long hair tied in a bun.
  • Approximately 20 years old
  • Wearing a purple winter jacket, black t-shirt, blue jeans, black and white shoes.

The investigating officers are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the investigating officers by calling 905-0688-4111, option 3, extension 1009614.
