Drug trafficking probe nets five arrests in Niagara Falls

In December 2022, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) street crime detectives assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) commenced an investigation into the distribution of illegal drugs throughout the City of Niagara Falls.

During the evening hours on Jan. 10, detectives executed a search warrant at a residential address in the area of Drummond Road and Monroe Street in Niagara Falls. Police recovered 606.9 grams of suspected fentanyl, 27.9 grams of suspected cocaine, and 2.2 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine. The combined estimated value of all drugs seized is $66,720.  Detectives also seized $580 of Canadian currency believed to be acquired through the proceeds of crime and 30 rounds of shotgun ammunition and a prohibited knife that opens with centrifugal force was also recovered. Five were arrested and charged.

Jimmy Alan Carson, 36, of Niagara Falls has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Possession of a firearm, weapon, or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (3 counts)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possess prohibited/restricted weapon or prohibited device
  • Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Fail to comply with probation order (4 counts)
  • Fail to comply with release order (6 counts)
  • Possession of crystal methamphetamine

Alexis Scarfo, 20, of Niagara Falls has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Possess prohibited/restricted weapon or prohibited device
  • Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of crystal methamphetamine

Marcel Ludger Labbe, 56, of Niagara Falls has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Possess prohibited/restricted weapon or prohibited device
  • Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of crystal methamphetamine

Jennifer McRae, 48, of Niagara Falls has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Possess prohibited/restricted weapon or prohibited device
  • Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of crystal methamphetamine

Leonard Nicholas Lech, 35, of Niagara Falls has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Possess prohibited/restricted weapon or prohibited device
  • Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
  • Posession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of crystal methamphetamine

Carson, Scarfo, Labbe, McRae and Lech are all being held for bail hearing scheduled to take place via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street in St. Catharines.
