A 75-year-old Niagara-on-the-Lake resident has been charged with impaired driving after a Niagara Parks Police Service officer happened upon a vehicle in the ditch in the early hours of Monday morning.
The officer spotted the vehicle April 10 at around 1:45 a.m. while on patrol in the area of Niagara Stone Road and Concession Road 4 in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Police said the officer observed a female outside the vehicle requesting police assistance, and a male in the driver's seat.
Suspecting the driver was impaired, the officer conducted a breathalyzer test, which the driver failed, the police said in a news release.
The driver, whose name was not released, was charged with "impaired operation of a conveyance - exceed blood alcohol concentration" contrary to the Criminal Code.
