2 men charged in Niagara Falls drug investigation

The investigation began late in 2023 and the two men were arrested on Wednesday

In late 2023, detectives with the 2 District (Niagara Falls / Niagara on the Lake) Street Crime Unit began an investigation into the illegal sale of drugs, as a result of community complaints. The investigation centered on a residence in the area of Arad Street and Drummond Road in the City of Niagara Falls.

On Feb. 28, 2024, detectives from the 2 District Street Crime Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at the residence and arrested two males.

Detectives seized the following:

  • 3.6 grams of suspected fentanyl
  • 106 pills of dilaudid
  • silver brass knuckles

Todd Petkovich (60 years old) of Niagara Falls, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking - dilaudid
  • Failing to comply with release order (three Counts)

Aaron Overholt (28 years old) of no fixed address was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking - dilaudid
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking - fentanyl
  • Failing to attend court
  • Failing to comply with release order
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon  
  • Robbery

Both Petkovich and Overholt were held in custody pending a video bail hearing that is expected to take place on February 29, 2024, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines.
