A number of Niagara-on-the-Lake Wolves Local League teams competed in their Niagara District Hockey League division championships last weekend.
Leading the way was the Wolves U13 Team 1, who brought home gold medals from the championship tournament at Port Colborne’s Vale Centre.
Coached Mike Cwiertniewski, Dan Plomish and Mike Pillitteri, the U13s edged the St. Catharines Majors 3-2 on Saturday then followed that up with a similarly tight and thrilling 2-1 win in the gold medal game against the Stoney Creek Warriors.
In the U18 division, the Wolves Team 2 made it to Sunday’s finals against the Wainfleet Wild Team 1. The Wolves settled for silver medals as the Wild skated to a 4-1 victory.
Elsewhere, the Wolves U11 Team 2, U15 team and U18 Team 1 all made it to their respective semi-finals.
