RiverBrink Art Museum is inviting the public to the Orchard of Dreams Garden Party.

Join this free audio/visual event for a magical celebration of spring, blossoms and nature. On Sunday, May 19, the doors open at 6 p.m. for access to the galleries and picnic area. The performance begins at 8 p.m. Rain date is May 26.

Performing this outdoor multimedia presentation that evening is Marinko Jareb, a multidisciplinary artist. According to Mike Balsom, arts and culture reporter for The NOTL Local, "Marinko is a local DJ, a music curator, a musicologist, a world traveller and Niagara's longest-running promoter and proponent of electronic dance music.”

Inspired by his mother's garden, Marinko will share his lifelong passion for the beauty of Niagara’s natural world, with a concert held under the branches of the crab-apple grove at RiverBrink.

RiverBrink Art Museum is located in the historic village of Queenston. It opened its doors to the public in 1983, in a large country home on the banks of the Niagara River.

According to Janet Zylstra, RiverBrink administrator, Marinko will present a site-specific "dub" of his work, Toronto Sakura. This includes a live performance of playful ambient music and a luxurious electroacoustic soundscape. Presented with synchronized video projections, "a narrative of folk tales from that special space where the heavens meet the earth will serve as a guide to the mysterious inner life of a blossom."

The definition of a "dub" in music is characterized by a version or "double" of an existing song, a RiverBrink news release explains. The higher end frequency is rolled off, focus is put on the bass, and vocals are usually removed. Then a few effects may be tacked on.

Come to RiverBrink on May 19 to hear and see this magical celebration, under the canopy of the crab-apple trees. This event is family friendly, with free admission. RSVP to [email protected].
