Police say residents heard three possible gun shots early Sunday on Ryerson Crescent

Niagara Regional Police detectives are investigating a shooting incident in Niagara Falls.

On April 22, 2024, at 8 p.m. officers responded to a home in the area of Ryerson Crescent and Rice Crescent for a belated report of a shooting. The initial investigation determined that on April 21, 2024, at 3:30 a.m. residents in the area were awoken to the sound of three possible gun shots. It was not reported to the police at that time.

Detectives were assigned to the investigation, with detectives from the Forensic Services Unit called in to assist.  A house on Ryerson Crescent was found to have damage consistent with being struck by gun fire. There were people in the house at the time of the incident, none of whom were injured.

A red sport utility vehicle was seen speeding away from the shooting scene on Ryerson Crescent.  The SUV is believed to have entered the 420 Hwy.

This is an active and ongoing investigation. It is believed to have been a targeted incident. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the investigating officers by calling 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009506.

Anyone (residents / business owners) who may have been in the area with cell phones, closed circuit video recording, or dash camera footage between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. on April 21, 2024, is asked to review their footage of the area and to contact police if they observe anything suspicious.
