Niagara police fentanyl investigation leads to arrest

This month Niagara Regional Police Service street crime detectives assigned to 2 District, which includes Niagara FallsNiagara-on-the-Lake) launched an investigation into the distribution of illegal drugs throughout Niagara Falls.

During the evening of Jan. 18, detectives were authorized to execute a search warrant inside a motel room located in the area of Lundy’s Lane near Montrose Road. As a result one man was arrested, and detectives recovered 18.6 grams of suspected fentanyl with an estimated value of $2,000.

Todd Walter Petkovich, 59, of Niagara Falls has been arrested and charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of traffickin and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Petkovich was released and scheduled to attend court on March 23 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street, in St. Catharines.
