Tim Hortons restaurant owners and millions of generous Tim Hortons guests helped break a new Smile Cookie record by raising $19.7 million for local charities and community groups across the country, says a news release from the Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation.

This year in St. Catharines, Thorold, and Niagara-on-the-Lake, local Tim Hortons restaurant owners and guests helped raise an incredible $138,280.24 to support Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation and Pathstone Foundation. This is over 92,000 cookies sold!

“This was Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation’s first time participating in the Smile Cookie campaign,” says Tracy Geoffroy, the foundation's executive director. “What an unforgettable experience! We thank our 200-plus volunteers for your enthusiastic support, the thousands of individuals/businesses/organizations who purchased cookies, and the incredible team at our local Tim Hortons. We are overwhelmed with gratitude! To the Tim Hortons owners in St. Catharines, Thorold and Niagara-on-the-Lake, we thank you for this incredible opportunity and for believing in the work we do at HDS. The $69,140 donated to HDS Foundation will be used to purchase seven beds and six specialty mattresses - making a direct impact on patient care. It’s more than just a bed… it’s comfort after a long day of therapy; it’s care so wounds will heal faster; and it’s hope for a meaningful recovery.”

“Smile Cookie funds for Pathstone from the owners' locations in St. Catharines, Thorold and Niagara-on-the-Lake are being directed to our mental health walk-in clinic program,” says Kim Rossi, director of fundraising and communications for the Pathstone Foundation. “These clinics are located across the region of Niagara and see kids when they are ready with no cost, appointment or health card required. This program is only possible, thanks to the generosity of donors.”

"We're so proud and humbled that Tims guests have once again shown incredible support for our Smile Cookie campaign and important charities and community groups where they live by helping us raise a record-breaking $19.7 million," says Axel Schwan, president of Tim Hortons, in the news release.

"To achieve such an amazing result means baking and hand-decorating millions upon millions of Smile Cookies over the course of just a week. My heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who made this happen, including all of our passionate restaurant owners, team members and volunteers who helped us dot eyes and create smiles.”
